Dani Mathers is a hugely successful Playboy model known for her beautiful looks and statement looks in front of the camera, earning her a name for herself as well as a strong following on social media with adoring fans.

But she may have just ruined all of that.

Okay, so maybe not all of that. She’s still going to be rich and beautiful regardless of how her fans view her, whether she remains being a model, or whether the general public like her. But in the celebrity world ‘image is everything’ and seeing as she relies on her looks in her job as a model, having people literally despise your personality is not the way to go.

Dani today posted a snapchat to her many followers after she’d been to the gym, in the locker room an unsuspecting mature woman was showering herself after a workout and Dani took a photograph. Taking a photograph of someone in an area where there is a ‘reasonable expectation of privacy’ and then posting that image for a large number of people to see goes against the IPSO Editor’s Code Of Conduct which applies to all journalists whether professional or civilian which includes any member of the public posting to an audience online or in print. As well as this the photograph directly undermines the ‘Right to Privacy’ under both the European Convention of Human Rights’ and ‘The Human Rights Act’.

Using a breach of privacy would be the best way for the victim of this careless and potentially damaging crime to gain justice for the elderly woman who had her privacy invaded, her dignity stripped when hundreds of people saw her naked form and now that image (whether Dani intended it to be or not) will remain on the internet forever.

Dani did issue a public apology stating that she ‘Doesn’t agree with body shaming because It’s not what she’s all about’ and went on to explain her actions by stating she was new to snapchat and didn’t realise she had made the image public, saying that the image was intended for a ‘private conversation with a girlfriend’.

Her actions have enraged many people on social media, and Vlogging Celebrity Philip DeFranco has even made a video about this exact event. He states that he believed Dani to be a ‘fake’ person with a ‘fake’ apology. He states that she took that photograph with the intent to share it whether with one person or all her followers, and therefore her actions contradict her claim that she doesn’t believe in body shaming.

UPDATE:

Dani Mathers is reportedly being investigated for breach of a sexual offence by California state police for publicly sharing an image of a naked woman without her consent. Allegedly California law states that Dani could face a short prison sentence, or more likely a fine for her breach of the law.

Dani Mathers has lost her job as a radio host because of the backlash from the public online where she has been criticised for her actions which have been described as shocking and callous. One Twitter user even commented: ‘@DaniMathers is the type of ugly you cannot photoshop’.

She has also allegedly been banned from the chain of gyms that the photograph was taken in, although the chain has not been named. Apparently she has been banned from entering because her actions breached their privacy policy of their gym members.
